Chris White and his crew removed a large tree, sitting closely between two houses, for us today. I was so impressed with the whole process. They brought the tree down slowly so our yard was basically untouched. The guys cleaned up everything down to the last twig. I would HIGHLY recommend Chris White to everyone who needs tree service. You won’t find anyone better to do the job!

We had a large tree go down overnight due to high winds. Fortunately it did not hit the house, but still caused damage and blocked the driveway. One call to White’s this morning, Chris came out to give us an estimate which was competitive. The crew was out within 30 minutes. They did an excellent job, even had a stump grinder called in to assist. The tree was taken down, all the debris cleaned up and hauled away. Excellent service, polite, they take pride in their work, would highly recommend.

We are so happy we found this tree company. Sent message over the weekend after losing massive, well over 100 year old Oak tree in our yard. They quickly responded, out the next day for estimate then early show the following day. Professional from start to finish. I pointed out a couple more trees and will absolutely be contacting this tree company for all tree related issues. Hard finding such a reliable professional company like this!!

This guy’s tree work is top-notch-my yard’s never looked better. And the firewood? Burns like a dream, stacks perfect, and delivers a grin with every log. Sure, he won’t haul freebies, but why would you want handouts when you get quality like this?

These guys are great! I had a huge tree fall from my shoreline across to the other side of the cove which blocked all boats from exiting the cove. Chris came in with a plan and made it happen quickly and removed the tree out of the water. It was amazing, quick and efficient and a ton cheaper than the alternative of a barge and crane coming in.

Signs You May Need Emergency Tree Removal

Certain warning signs indicate that a tree may pose an immediate danger to your home or property. If you notice any of the following issues, it may be time to contact a professional emergency arborist in Knoxville.

Our emergency arborist team can respond to situations such as:

Power Line Contact

Trees or branches touching power lines are extremely dangerous—do not approach and call utility company immediately.

Leaning After Storm

A tree leaning suddenly or dramatically after a storm is a critical danger sign requiring immediate action.

Overhanging Branches

Heavy branches hanging over roofs, driveways, or walkways pose immediate hazards to people and property.

Partially Uprooted

A tree showing signs of uprooting after heavy rain is unstable and can collapse suddenly.

Cracked Limbs

Large cracked or split limbs can fall without warning, especially during wind or rain.

Blocking Access

Large branches blocking roads or access areas create hazards and need immediate removal.

Trunk Cracks

A tree with deep cracks, splits, or a hollow trunk is structurally compromised and can fail suddenly — especially during East Tennessee's storm season or after prolonged heavy rain saturates the root zone.

Common Causes of Emergency Tree Removal

Emergency tree situations often happen without warning, especially after severe weather or when a tree has underlying structural problems. In the Knoxville area, strong storms, heavy winds, and saturated soil can weaken trees and cause large limbs or entire trees to fall.

When these issues occur, a professional emergency tree removal service can quickly assess the situation and remove the hazard before it causes further damage to your property.

What To Do During a Tree Emergency

Safety first—follow these critical steps

When a tree emergency occurs, it is important to stay calm and focus on safety. Fallen trees, broken limbs, or unstable trees can create dangerous situations.

Immediate Safety Steps:

1. Keep Safe Distance: Stay far away from the damaged tree or fallen branches. Trees that have recently fallen may still be unstable, and broken limbs can shift or fall unexpectedly.

2. Avoid Power Lines: If the tree is touching power lines, stay away and contact your local utility company immediately. Never attempt to move the tree yourself.

3. Document Damage: If it is safe to do so, take photos of the damage for insurance purposes. These photos may be helpful when filing a claim.

4. Call Professionals: Contact a professional emergency tree removal service immediately. Call Whites Tree Services immediately, (423) 519-7484 — available 24/7, day and night, including weekends and holidays. The sooner you call, the sooner our crew can assess the situation and prevent further damage. Emergency tree removal requires specialized equipment and trained professionals.

5. Don't DIY: Avoid attempting to remove the tree or large branches yourself. This is extremely dangerous and should only be handled by experienced professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Emergency Tree Services

An emergency tree service is required when a tree poses an immediate threat to safety, property, or utility lines. This includes situations like trees or large branches that have fallen due to storms, are at risk of falling, or are obstructing roadways or access to properties.

Whites Tree Services targets same-day response for emergency tree calls across Knoxville, Lenoir City, and Loudon County — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. For the most dangerous situations — trees on structures, power line contact, or blocked emergency access — we prioritize these calls first. Call (423) 519-7484 immediately and describe your situation so we can dispatch the right equipment as quickly as possible.

Yes, we understand that tree emergencies can happen at any time, day or night, including weekends and holidays. Our emergency tree service is available 24/7 to ensure you receive the help you need when you need it most.

We strongly advise against attempting to remove a fallen tree or large branch yourself, especially in an emergency situation. Tree removal can be extremely dangerous and should only be performed by trained professionals with the proper equipment and safety protocols in place.

Yes. We regularly assist homeowners throughout Knoxville and Loudon County with insurance documentation for emergency tree removal. We provide on-site photographs, a written damage assessment, and a detailed invoice formatted for insurance submission. Homeowner's insurance in Tennessee typically covers emergency tree removal when a storm or weather event caused a tree to damage a covered structure. We recommend contacting your insurer as soon as possible — and we are happy to answer any questions your claims adjuster may have about the scope of work performed.

Absolutely. Our team is equipped to handle complex emergency situations, including trees that have fallen on houses, cars, or other structures. We prioritize these cases to mitigate further damage and ensure safety.

After removal, we will safely dispose of the tree. Depending on the situation and your preferences, this can include cutting the tree into manageable pieces, chipping, or hauling it away. We strive to leave your property clean and clear of debris.

Emergency tree removal costs vary based on the size of the tree, complexity of the situation, accessibility, and time of day. While emergency response can cost more than scheduled removal due to the immediate dispatch and specialized equipment required, Whites Tree Services provides transparent, upfront pricing — you receive an on-site estimate before any work begins so there are no surprises. In many cases, the cost is partially or fully covered by homeowner's insurance when the emergency was caused by a storm or weather event. We provide full documentation to support your claim. Call (423) 519-7484 for a free on-site estimate.

If it's safe to do so, take photos of the damage for insurance purposes and keep a safe distance from the affected area. Avoid trying to remove the tree or debris yourself. If the situation involves power lines, stay away and contact your utility company immediately.

The most effective way to prevent emergency tree situations is through regular professional tree maintenance and inspections — especially for mature trees located near your home, driveway, or other structures. Whites Tree Services recommends a professional tree assessment at least once per year, and always after any major storm event in East Tennessee. Regular trimming removes weak or dead branches before they become storm hazards. In many cases, a proactive assessment identifies risks that can be resolved with a simple trim rather than a costly emergency removal. Ask us about our tree assessment service — it is one of the best investments a Knoxville property owner can make before storm season.

Emergency tree removal can cost more than standard scheduled removal because it requires immediate dispatch, after-hours crew availability, and in many cases specialized equipment to handle dangerous or complex situations safely. However, the actual cost depends heavily on the size of the tree, time of day, and the complexity of the job. Whites Tree Services provides a transparent on-site estimate before work begins — no hidden fees. And in many cases where the emergency was caused by a storm, your homeowner's insurance policy may cover a significant portion of the cost. We provide full insurance documentation as part of our service.
